Structured Illumination by DLP® Technology
Industrial Pattern Projection
PRIME Options: UV VIS RGB
The PRIME Projector is a high performance DLP® projection subsystem designed for demanding industrial illumination and projection applications. Based on Texas Instruments DLP® technology, the system provides outstanding optical performance, precise image projection, and maximum flexibility for machine vision, metrology, semiconductor inspection, additive manufacturing, and scientific instrumentation.
Supporting a broad range of DMDs from XGA resolution up to  4K, the PRIME platform enables application specific configurations while maintaining a compact and rugged mechanical design. The integrated TIR prism and telecentric optical architecture ensure high illumination efficiency, excellent image uniformity, and precise on axis projection with zero optical offset. The projector is available with monochromatic or RGB LED illumination and is driven by the high performance HLD2 LED driver, providing stable optical output and convenient intensity control. Depending on the selected DMD configuration, the platform supports resolutions from 1024 × 768 up to 4096 × 2176 pixels, making it suitable for both high speed binary pattern projection and high resolution grayscale imaging.
System Architecture
The modular PRIME Core optics architecture supports various DLP® chipsets, allowing the PRIME Projector to be configured for different application requirements through the selection of projection optics, light source, and software API. Depending on the configuration, the system can be optimized for resolution, frame rate, optical performance, and wavelength range. USB 3.0 or PCIe Gen3 x4/x8 interfaces provide high-speed connectivity for integration into industrial systems. Active cooling ensures reliable continuous operation under demanding industrial conditions.

System Control
The PRIME Projector integrates seamlessly with the ViALUX ALP Controller Suite, which provides the functionality required for programming and operating the system. Pattern sequences are transferred from the PC to the on-board memory via USB 3.0 or PCIe Gen3 x4/x8 using lossless compression. Sequence parameters such as bit depth, picture time, trigger mode, and number of repetitions can be freely configured to meet specific application requirements.
The ALP firmware streams patterns from the on-board SDRAM memory to the digital micromirror device (DMD), with each input pixel mapped one-to-one to a micromirror. Patterns are updated in global reset mode, enabling all micromirrors to switch simultaneously within a few microseconds. Grayscale patterns are generated by precisely controlling the timing of each micromirror, ensuring accurate grayscale linearity.
The maximum global array switching rate depends on the DMD installed in the PRIME Projector, with frame rates of up to 22727 fps for the DLP7000. Multiple PRIME Projectors can be operated in parallel from the same application and precisely synchronized via the trigger interface.
The ALP API is implemented as a portable library and is available as a DLL for Microsoft® Windows® and as a shared library for Linux. It supports C++, C#, Visual Basic (.NET), Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and other development environments. Microsoft® Windows® is supported in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The ALP USB 3.0 and PCIe drivers are robust, validated, and proven for continuous 24/7 operation in industrial and medical applications.
